I made this for my love of Futurama and that I was wanting to practice 3d modeling something outside of my usual scope and scale. Futurama being a cartoon I enjoy watching from time to time I noticed that the building and the inside changes as the series goes on. The later seasons I realized after being pretty far into 3d modeling this seems to have a more standardized layout. I however chose to try to recreate the building with a realistic scale using the layouts from a Reddit post. The layouts give a rough idea of the layout and size. As I was using these to get the general layout I had to shout out the post on reddit. After the general layout was done which was me extruding out walls. From there I adjusted everything to go for the style I was going for and to make the inside walls more walkable if say the model was imported into Unreal Engine for architectural walkthroughs.
You can see from the following videos some of the work that was done on this project.
The above videos show some but the video below is much longer as I go about editing various sections. I cut it down a lot.
Its a slow process overall as while I am modeling I am also figuring out different ways to model to achieve what I am looking for. Is it the best method? Probably not but as I progress in my skills I will either comeback to this particular project or start over and try to model it based on the actual sizing and proportions shown in the show.
